Passing Moments

Watch this wave, caress the shore

And now roll back from where it came

Now watch this the next wave

Do the same…

I love that Passing Moment

When two waves overlap

One reflectively retreating

Another mounting its attack

My wave of life has passed its peak

I’m reflective, slipping down this beach

With my parents, in the depth ahead

Like wisdom rippling, out of reach

I feel my children, flowing through me

Surging in the other way

Rushing onto teenage freedom

From their adolescent play

But one last time, I get to hold them

Heaven willing, I would show them

That our Passing Moment, was today
